Readers Successfully Buying 10-Packs of LiveStrong Yellow Wristbands Directly from the Lance Armstrong Foundation
Recently, two Operation Gadget readers commented that they have received LiveStrong yellow wristbands directly from the Lance Armstrong Foundation by placing an order for 10 wristbands and waiting for delivery. I will repeat their comments here so that more readers can see them:
Just because the bands are backordered doesn't mean you can't place an order. My friend ordered a 10 pack at the end of July and it came in 2-3 weeks. Not sure why someone would want to pay $10 for one band, just to get it sooner. Also, the LAF sends them to countries all over the world, not just the USA.
For those of you who "only want one", don't be cheap. Buy a 10-pack and give them to your friends and family, for crying out loud.
--jvickers in response to Where to Buy a LiveStrong Yellow Wristband
I'm from the Philippines and we did your 3rd suggestion. {"Organize a small group of friends and purchase a 10-pack directly from the Lance Armstrong Foundation."} The package just arrived last friday. I'm proud to say that I'm now wearing the band. :)
--Charo in response to Suggestions for Finding a LiveStrong Yellow Wristband Outside the United States
If their experience is an indication of how the Lance Armstrong Foundation is handling back orders, then I think ordering a 10-pack of LiveStrong yellow wristbands directly from the LAF is the most efficient way to get them at this time. I ordered a 10-pack directly from the LAF this morning. I was charged $13.06 for a 10-pack, including shipping.
When I receive the 10-pack that I ordered, I'll let you know here on Operation Gadget.

Comments
I purchased directly from LAF on August 17th (2 boxes of 10). I will also let you know if they come in soon. If the 2-3 weeks is true (and I hope it is), they should be arriving soon.
PS. What really frosts me is the people making money off of them on ebay - it's a charity for God's sake! If you would like a bracelet, I'll give you one when they come in. Just email. Unfortunately I'll only have a few to give out.

hey i have been looking for some and i think it's really great i need 60 of those bracelets and i have one but i am going to give them to my family because we are supporting my friend in cancer.

I've been looking for these wristbands everywhere and I keep being told they are not being made anymore. My mother is going through breast cancer treatment and I wanted to get some for my family members, because it has really hit close to home. My fiancees grandmother died of liver cancer. I have no problem donating money to the cause, but the bracelet would be a nice touch for my family since she is literally "living strong" with something that most people would give up on.

theve been backorded since july...i thought it was only 2-3 weeks...?

Cancer has been around for a long time.
If this small item can save a life. Why should anyone cdharge someone extra money for it.
It's a sharing of faith to a friend.
God Bless America.

None of the stores posted on this site have the wristbands in stock. The kid is really upset that we cannot get one. Does anyone know a place in DC metro area where the bands can be purchased, or I have to buy 10 of them? I am not cheap, but what's the point to say that you can pay $1 if the minimum is $10?
Posted by: Hopeful Mother | September 13, 2004 5:29 PM
does anyone know when the website to order them from will be up & running? for two days the site has been down.
Posted by: PJ | September 13, 2004 6:11 PM
The wristbands just came in! So it took about a month to get 20 wristbands from LAF directly. As I previously stated, I feel disgusted that people are making a profit from these on ebay. Unfortunately I only have a few extra (as I mostly bought them because of personal reasons and for family and friends) and some of you have already responded. So if you would like one, please feel free to email me and I will send one to you free of charge.
God Bless!

Dwight:
I too have been searching all over for these wristbands and the website has been down all week. If you have any extra wristbands I would be very excited to receive one. My mother-in-law has been living strong for the past 3 years with lung cancer - fighting all the odds. I'f love to be wearing one to support her in this fight for her life! Send me an e-mail at rachelsample@msn.com if you have one left!

Dwight:
If you have 1 extra for my son, I would send you out a prepaid overnight letter so you can send it to me free of shipping charges to you and would pay you for the band....
Thanks
Luke

They are not available at the Lance site, Site is closed for maintenance.
Posted by: Phyllis | September 15, 2004 11:49 AM
Yes, the LAF online store is closed for maintenance, but the website (I'll post a link here, when I find it again) says they hope to have the store back online by the end of the week (of 9/14). I'm sure as heck not going to purchase any from Ebayers. If I can save people from having to purchase from Ebay, I'll by 30 of them and just hand them out.
Posted by: Maria | September 15, 2004 1:23 PM
I have been searching for the wristbands and cannot find them anywhere except eBay....and I will not let people make money off of something that is for the foundation. Please let me know when the website will be up so I can order or where I can purchase 10 wristbands.

I have ordered 20 adult bands and should receive them within the next 2 weeks. I need 3 youth bands to buy or will trade for 3 of my adult bands when they come in. Can anyone help? Thanks.
Posted by: Barbara | September 16, 2004 1:24 AM
I agree that the yellow bands should not be sold for more than a $1.00 unless those people selling them turn over all their profits to LAF. My son broke his and wants a new one, he'll just have to wait until the site is back up again!
Posted by: Rosie | September 16, 2004 2:54 AM
hello!
I'm in the same situation - trying to get hold of 2 youth size ones to show my support - guess i left it a little late. (if anyone can help it would be appreciated)
I too have looked on EBay - i found ( as you did above )these bands selling for £16.99! and *no mention* at all of the extra going to charity,- if anything, they are currently being advertised as a "hot" fashion accessory! It really is quite horrifying!
It definately undermines the whole idea of the wristband, that people can exploit them to make a massive profit.
If i ever do get hold of some and cannot find people who will appreciate them - i may consider putting them on EBay myself - however if more money if made then every penny wll be donated to the LAF, and it will be clear to bidders that this is the case.
Fran.

We have been trying to get these bands for sometime. My dad is a cancer (testicular) survivor and I would love to get him one. My 8 yr old son came home with a youth size. The parents of a friend of his at school got 1 for all the kids in the class. No fair! We can't get the adult sizes. I hope the site is up soon
Posted by: deidre | September 16, 2004 9:03 AM
Kudos to everyone here that supports the true meaning of the LIVESTRONG band! I too have been tempted to purchase some on ebay. My conscience just wouldn't let me do it. I am going to purchase enough for my daughters gymnsastics team (20). I congratulate the youth that see it as a fashion statement. Finally, something positive that the youth are showing! I volunteer for hospice and see the ravages of the last stages of cancer every day. I will wait until LAF is back to selling them before I will purchase even from the vultures.

I just ordered mine last tuesday when www.laf.org was running and not going under maintenance. They closed the site so they can get a chance to restock and change the descriptions of teh wristbands shipping from saying BACKORDER to SHIPS TO 3-4 WEEKS. I ordered mine right before they closed it and it should be coming soon.

could i get a pack of 10 lance armstrong sent to me in the uk
Posted by: neil | September 16, 2004 4:21 PM
My dad has prostate cancer. It was a late detection. He's still living with cancer. It's been a month since he's been in the hospital. I hope one day he'll get better.
I regret not having a good relationship in the past, and we are currently working to gain a stronger one.
I plan on buying one to support research that will maybe save my dad's life. I'll also pray to God. Maybe some people here can pray too.
Have a nice day.

I sure hope Ebay doesn't stop me from auctioning the bracelets. I have made close to $300 for LAF on my first batch of 100 bracelets. I plan on sending them every cent. I'm considering ordering another 1200 and doing what I can to help the cause. BTW ... my wife has been fighting this dreaded disease for over a year now ...
Posted by: Bill | September 16, 2004 10:50 PM
Hey Bill, If you have any bracelets i would gladly buy some from you. When i ordered 10 i should have ordered more. Do you have any spare ones? Thanks. God Bless Your Wife.

I am very sorry, but I was inundated with emails and unfortunately I only had a few to give out. There were many people that emailed me with touching letters and I wish I could have gotten everyone a wristband.

Not wanting to be a spoilsport, but I ordered 20 bands from the official site, and have not gotten my order as of today. I am located in Singapore. My timeline is as follows:
19th August: Placed order
8th September: Customer service said order was shipped, after emailing them about it
As of today, 21st September: Order not received yet.
Don't get me wrong, I know it's all for a good cause, but the delay is making me worry..
They said they shipped the order by FIMS (Fedex International Mail) and it should arrive by 11 days. Interestingly, I emailed twice to them, and 2 different customer reps gave me 2 different dates the order was shipped, one said 7th September, the other said 8th September.
Emailed them again and they told me to wait till October 15, if the order is not received, before contacting them again.
I have bought other stuff online from USA before, and they never took more than 2 weeks to arrive.
Anyone in the same plight as me?

Hello, I live in Indonesia and I've been looking for the wristbands here! Unfortunately they do not have it here and it was a pity that I didn't buy it when I was in the US this summer. I would appreciate if anyone who lives near Indonesia could probably ship one to me? I'd pay for the shipping cost, don't worry... Please let me know via email: jliem@stanford.edu
Cheers!

I lost my dad to lungcancer back in march two weeks later my father-in-law pastaway from cancer also. But 10 years ago my first cancer loss was my granfather. He passed away when I 17. So if I have to buy 10 or more wristbands it would be worth it.

Shanna:
I have ordered 50 LiveStrong wristbands in the last couple of months and received 40 of them so far. The delivery time has been pretty consistant lately at 3 to 4 weeks.
The Lance Armstrong Foundation On-line Store has posted the following message regarding its shipment policies:
"PLEASE NOTE: As stated on the Web site, all orders require a 3-4 week timeline before they ship out of our warehouse. THIS INCLUDES NEXT DAY AND 3-DAY SHIPPING - these designations refer to the shipping method, NOT the time it will take the order to arrive."
I hope this helps,

i want one of those bracelets! i live in london, and want to buy one from a shop rather than resorting to eBay (i hate the fact people are making money out of charity). Is the best place to go the LAF website??

Hi, Ive been looking all over for the bands in stores, but no luck. It sucks because i dont have a credit card to buy one on the net. I am battling depression and would love to have one to get me thru. Those sort of reminders help me out i think, like a wristband to wear. If anyone has a extra they wanna help me out with. I would be grateful. thanks joe
