Larry Magid of CBSnews.com thinks that the Paris Hilton Sidekick II Personal Data Theft will force mobile carriers to improve security. He thinks that her role as the victim in this situation may be her “greatest contribution to mankind”. Perhaps that’s a bit of an overstatement.
I like the idea that mobile phone carriers would have to increase security to a level approaching on-line banking in order to avoid future data thefts. If the attention being paid to Paris Hilton’s situation helps us get there sooner rather than later, we will all be better off shortly.
