Samsung and AT&T Wireless, both official sponsors of the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, have collaborated to release the Samsung E316 Mobile Phone as "the official Olympic-designed handset."

The E316 is decked out for the Olympics, with Olympic-themed ring tones and images. AT&T Wireless, another Olympic partner, will preconfigure this phone to access Olympics-related content through mMode, AT&T Wireless' data service.

Beyond the special Olympic theming, the E316 is a pretty standard clamshell camera phone. Its features include:

  • Ultralight VGA camera phone with dual-color displays.
  • 65,000 color TFT LCD Screen.
  • Java enabled.
  • 40-chord polyphonic ringtone compatible.
  • VGA Camera takes photos at 640x480 resolution.
  • Phone and travel charger included.

The Samsung E316 weighs 3 ounces and measures 1.8 x 3.3 x 0.8 inches. It's a nice phone for the price, at least with the deal you can get at Amazon.com. The E316 may be loaded with Olympic material today, but it will be a reliable, inexpensive camera phone that you won't mind keeping after the games are over.
