Another thing that MobileTracker discussed recently is the NEC 525, the electronics company's first camera phone to become available in the United States. This looks like a good option those of you who are AT&T Wireless customers looking to move to the new GSM network (referred to by AT&T as the Next Generation Network).

MobileTracker gave a good description of the 525's features, including the fact that this phone features dual CPUs with one dedicated to applications, and that it runs a flavor of Java co-developed by NTT DoCoMo and Sun Microsystems.

This is a quad-band GSM phone, which makes it useful pretty much anywhere in the world where there's some sort mobile phone service. It has a secondary LCD display that can be used for caller ID or as a viewfinder for the camera. There are not many details available about the resolution of the camera. References are made to the camera's 100k pixel resolution, and the fact that there are three picture quality settings, but I can't find the horizontal and vertical resolution of each image.

One aspect of this phone that seems fairly unique is the NEC High Definition Mobile Website that contains lots of ready to use content. The Games Section contains a number of free ready-to-download Java-based games. I could definitely see myself trying out several of them, if I carried one of these phones all the time.
