iPod Users Offer Their Compatriots Opportunities to "Jack In"

Over on 601am.com, Aaron Bailey pointed out the fact that Apple iPod users are offering their fellow travelers the opportunity to "jack into" their iPods to share the experience of what's currently playing. Aaron makes reference to a Wired News news article that identified the behaviror. Aaron says:

The other day, I was thinking that it'd be awesome to be able to stream my iPod tunes to others nearby, on the subway or walking down the street.... Apparently, all I have to do is approach a total stranger and plug my earphones into their iPod.... I'm going to try this next time I'm on the subway.

Of course, the articles strongly indicate that you have to have be listening to your iPod in order to be part of the club. On the other hand, if I had 2,500 to 10,000 tracks on my MP3 player, I'd probably be listening on the Subway most of the time too.
